The Pursuit of the Wise Men
The Magi’s pursuit, born out of curiosity moves to knowledge, then to the encounter, then to worship.
Worship is the goal; knowing about God and worshipping God are not the same thing.
“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.”_
John 5:39-40
“To have found God and still pursue him is the soul’s paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too easily satisfied religionist, but justified in happy existence by **children of the burning heart**.”
We pursue because God first pursued us
Our pursuit of God is in response to his fervent, risky, passionate pursuit of us. God pursued you to the point of becoming human.
He was clothed in flesh, and eventually he was covered in blood, to redeem us.
