Together in 22…is our theme for this year.  At the risk of sounding trite, “together” is a powerful word, that has deep roots in God’s story. Together begins in a Garden where two human beings were created – one male and one female.  Be fruitful and multiply, and rule over Creation.  How? Together.

Their “together” was sabotaged by a crafty serpent, who continues to divide.  But the end of God’s story is reflected in Paul’s words: “we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them (those who have died) in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (I Thess. 4:17).

Our goal this year is to re-gather in deeper ways, on multiple levels.  Not only are we better together, we are stronger together.  What does Together in 22 look like?

– In addition to worshipping together on Sunday mornings, and meeting together in small groups, and praying together on Monday evenings, we are reading the Bible together using the YouVersion app.

– It’s doing activities together such as ice-skating and bowling. We are looking forward to more times of building community – together

-Growing together are Women of Promise, Men of Purpose, Wake youth, Kids club, Kairos, Sound Heart and other groups that meet regularly.

Serving together is the Dream Team of volunteers each Sunday, as well as a Tuesday that delivers meals to the homeless.

I believe we have been wired for community.  But it’s together with a purpose.

Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.  (Heb. 10:24-25)

Our spiritual journey is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.  It’s been said:  If you want to go fast, go alone – if you want to go far, go together.   Wherever you are on the journey, I strongly urge you to be part of “Together in 22.”

Together till He comes,

Nicholas
