Sermon Notes

What is wisdom?

– Wisdom is knowledge applied skillfully, in a timely manner, for the good of ourselves

and for the good of others.

– it involves action; decision-making that honors God, helps us and others flourish by    giving careful thought to the implications of our decisions.

– the wise search for wisdom, whereas fools try to figure it out on their own.

Key Question:  Where do I need wisdom?

What are proverbs?

– Book of Proverbs is divided into 2 sections.  First 9 chapters are the introduction. The 2nd section are the actual proverbs or wisdom sayings.

–  Proverbs are not universal promises, they are principles – they are guidelines not guarantees.
