Chosen: To Live Free

Why the Chosen?

To represent Jesus
To live free

Independence

To come out from being under authority.
Is not the same as freedom
Freedom is how you live once you have gained your independence.

Freedom

Freedom begins by recognizing bondage
There are many forms of bondage

Spiritual bondage: Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:1-2)

In the Scriptures Jesus is confronted by a number of people who are demon-possessed
Not only did Jesus bring freedom to people who were tormented like Mary, he sent his disciples out to do the same: (Mark 6:6,7)
Most people do not struggle with demonic possession. But we can find ourselves oppressed by an enemy that wants to keep us bound.

Strongholds

An ancient fortress, designed to offer safety and security.
Strategically located to expand dominion over lands around them.

Spiritual Strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

A pattern of thinking and behaviors that opposes the knowledge of God.
Lies we believe about ourselves, our world and God.

You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free”

John 8:32

Freedom

Truth is a friend of freedom, whereas lies keep people in bondage.
Love is a friend of freedom, whereas lust is a form of bondage.
Freedom is about belonging, whereas the stronghold is feeling orphaned, alone, in solitary confinement

Open doors

Strongholds happen when we open door, give place to them…they take on a life of their own.

Ephesians 4:26–27

“Be angry and do not sin; and do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”

Place = “topos”

Topography
A place of jurisdiction.
Bondage distorts your reality.
It obscures your identity: Who am I?

Chosen: “Mary”

The Chosen have a name, that is known by God.

Isaiah 43:1

But now, this is what the LORD says– he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.”
